travel south america peru lima villa el salvador district

The Villa el Salvador District is an urban, largely residential coastal district on the outskirts of Lima.
According to Wikipedia, Villa El Salvador began in 1971 as a squatted pueblo joven (shanty town) in the vast empty sand flats to the south of Lima.
This district was the home base of the activist Maria elena Moyano who helped organize the Federacion Popular de Mujeres de Villa El Salvador.
The organization encompassed activities such as public kitchens, health committees, and the Vaso de Leche program supplying milk to children.
We only passed throgh this area in route to other locations.
